We're inventing the future, right here, right now, at Thales. By combining the curiosity to explore, the intelligence to question and the vision to create, we're transforming the world around us. Together, we ponder the positively perplexing problems our customers face across Aerospace, Space, Transportation, Defence and Security. Everywhere safety and security matter, we deliver.
You might not realise it but our work touches most people's lives, every single day. From the Thales fare collection systems in 100 cities around the world to in-flight entertainment systems for passenger planes and state-of-the-art equipment for military aircraft, the scope and scale of our problem-solving abilities know no bounds.
Why Procurement?
Procurement at Thales is responsible for sourcing the goods and services we need in order to develop new products, win new business and deliver profitable projects. In a typical year, we negotiate orders that equate to over 60% of the company's entire turnover. So it's a major commercial force, uniquely placed to impact on the product quality, performance, growth and reputation of the whole of Thales.
To be a successful Procurement professional, you'll need, and will gain, readily transferable skills and experience. In the process you'll open yourself up to a wide variety of career opportunities, both within Procurement as well as other functions. Our graduates develop a broad understanding of our business strategies, as well as gaining invaluable experience in an international environment, conducting complex negotiations, co-ordinating multidisciplinary teams and working with external suppliers.
Key responsibilities
- Help define and implement sourcing policies for goods and services.
- Negotiate and manage orders and subcontracts.
- Work on must-win bids to optimise the bought-in value.
- Manage supplier performance and relationships.
Skills, qualifications and experience
- Ideally, you'll be studying Business, Law, Engineering, Economics or Finance. You could also have studied supply chain or manufacturing aspects as part of your course - but we will consider applications from talented and enthusiastic graduates from any discipline.
- High levels of numeracy and literacy are of course required, but equally important is the ability to solve complex scenarios, and the ability to build and argue a case and to forge effective relationships with a large variety of people inside the company and externally too
Together, we're driven by doing things differently and making things better. Together, we'll fire your imagination and fulfil your potential. Together, we are Thales. Join us.
