This company is part of a FTSE 250 organisation, and run 12-15 international conferences per year within the world of Debt/Capital markets. These events can be as short as half a day with 100 delegates to a few days with 1200+ delegates.
This is a great opportunity for the right candidate who is keen to work for a dynamic organisation who will develop you into an international sales person. This is a fascinating role for a self-motivated and tenacious individual who is happy to travel internationally and is interested in politics and finance.
Your role would include:
- Coming up with ideastopics of events and work with production and logistics teams to help to set them up
- Generating revenue for the events through securing sponsorship deals with European banks and affiliated businesses
- Researching and calling decision makers in target organisations to generate interest in the conferences and secure meetings
- Travel to said meetings across Europe and sometimes USA and Canada to present your proposals and close the deals on a face-to-face basis. For the first few months you would travel with head of sales in a supporting role until you are confident to run meetings yourself.
- Clients can be generated through repeat business, inbound business or cold-calling new leads
- Typically you will be pitching to heads of Debt Capital Markets or Heads of Finance
The base salary for the position starts at £20k and rises to £24k upon 6 month probation. On top of that you will earn commission based on your results. Expected year one commission is £12k and year two is £20k, however is uncapped so not limited.
Training is provided in-house and includes success in sales as well as building your knowledge of the financial markets. There is plenty to learn in year one and it is very ?hands-on?. You will be speaking to markets professionals every day to build your expertise. There are also weekly exercises designed to build your knowledge.
Progression is down to the individual and is not linear. By year two you can be launching your own conferences and bringing in high revenues. Obviously the prospect of earning 6 figures salaries by the end of year three should be a big incentive. You are also encouraged to take qualifications.

- Charismatic, articulate, driven and assertive
- Hardworking and responsible
- The confidence to make introductions to senior professionals and articulate well
- A natural desire to understand issues pertinent to your job
