Highways England is a government owned company. Responsible for maintaining and modernising England's motorways and major A roads, we keep England moving. And with advances in technology, like smart motorways, and £11 billion being invested in road improvements in the next five years, there's never been a better time to get on board.
The Programme:
Join our three-year graduate training programme and you'll acquire all the skills and knowledge you need to achieve Chartered Surveyor status. You'll get to take up on-the-job training placements complemented by professional training. Then at the end of the programme, we'll reward you with a guaranteed job at your pay band - and an interview for a chance at promotion.
The Role:
This is a chance to make your mark as you develop our provision of expert commercial advice and support to internal clients. You'll work closely with commercial teams to enhance our commercial capability within the directorate and the wider agency while improving the accuracy and consistency of reported data reacted to our supply chain and contracts. As well as working towards Chartered Surveyor status, you will oversee the financial and commercial governance of contracts and manage contractual disputes with suppliers.
About You:
You hold a Quantity Surveying degree or equivalent, at a 2:2 Honours level or higher. This is supported by your ability to use and interpret civil engineering contracts, including NEC forms of contract. Your understanding of the commercial management of high-value construction contracts and the supply chain will be matched by a flair for using office software to maintain documents and spreadsheets. Meanwhile, your ability to communicate with staff and suppliers at all levels who have varying levels of technical understanding will make you stand out.
