JOB PURPOSE:To contribute to the profitable development and maximise the performance of Ageas’ accounts, as required, by recommending pricing actions based on monitoring and analysis of account performance and mix trends, actions of Ageas’ competitors, evaluation of new schemes, affinity and product propositions and innovation of new and enhanced management information, rating and pricing concepts.
Main Responsibilities...
• To monitor and analyse the performance of Ageas’ accounts, as required, at the macro, rating factor, agent and product levels in order to identify and recommend opportunities to optimise profitable growth through necessary pricing changes.
• To innovate, develop and recommend new and enhanced management information.
• To innovate, develop and recommend new pricing concepts.
• To monitor and analyse the pricing of Ageas’ competitors in order to identify and recommend changes to optimise Ageas’ competitive positioning and contribution per policy. This will include analysis of trends in the market, movements in the individual competitive positioning of other Insurers and movements in Ageas’ competitive positioning.
• To identify and monitor trends in the market which could affect pricing and underwriting of our products.
• To monitor and analyse the profile and mix trends of Ageas’ accounts at the macro, rating factor, agent and product levels in order to identify and recommend changes to maximise market opportunities, identify areas of growth and contraction, control areas of poor performance and optimise profitable growth.
• To evaluate new scheme, affinity and product propositions in order to identify potential profitability and recommend any necessary pricing changes.
• To support the Underwriting teams by recommending new, enhanced or alterations to underwriting rules and product covers.
• To support the Senior Pricing Analysts, as appropriate.
Context of the role...
In order to outperform the market, Ageas relies on the ability to quickly identify areas of good and poor performance through analysing trends and MI, and to react rapidly to those issues by adjusting rates and underwriting rules. Our Pricing Analysts generally specialise in either Motor or Household, although some cross product analysis is likely. They play a key role in investigating the performance of the accounts at the macro, rating factor, agent and product levels. They will produce accurate information in an understandable format and draw meaningful conclusions regarding the business implications of the results found.
The jobholder will make recommendations on the actions that need to be taken to improve profitability and account growth. Therefore they are expected to use their initiative and logical thought processes in arriving at their conclusions and to adopt an innovative approach.
The jobholder will work particularly closely with the Underwriting, Business Intelligence and Actuarial teams. We also maintain relationships and, on occasion, work with Sales and Marketing, Processing, Claims, Finance, IT and Electronic Business.
The jobholders are responsible for their own health and safety.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience...
• Pricing, knowledge and experience: (Desirable) A good understanding of pricing and underwriting principles. Highly computer literate, able to use spreadsheets, learn new systems and the use of databases. Experience of Excel is beneficial.
• Results Orientation; A high degree of numeracy with good statistical skills to analyse trends and understand modelling techniques. A flair for manipulating and interpreting data and making recommendations. Ability to prioritise work to meet deadlines. Demonstrates self-motivation and an innovative approach. Clear, logical thinker with good investigative and analytical skills. Able to think laterally, and deduce information.
• Communication; The ability to explain recommendations in a clear and concise way verbally and in written reports.
• Managing self; flexibility to adopt appropriate behaviour given the situation, acts with integrity, openness and honesty, positive and enthusiastic.
• Building relationships; Able to work with others, both internally and externally, to achieve good results and foster good working relationships
