Overview
An exciting opportunity for an internship at the RO Group, a third-generation family business with interests in commercial real estate, housebuilding, holiday lodges, early-stage venture capital investment and land promotion. The role offers the chance to work in an entrepreneurial environment and be mentored by the RO senior team, whilst offering experience across several sectors including cleantech, fintech and proptech. The main function of the role will enable you to gain an overview and understanding of the whole RO Group business, collaborate with other departments and teams within the RO Group, take part in ad hoc analysis of one-off projects to support colleagues and deadlines, take ownership and responsibility for allocated projects, present relevant information to Senior Directors of the business and complete a comprehensive 12-week learning plan.
Internship Roles:
Finance: The successful candidate will be involved in the support of the finance department in meeting their monthly, quarterly and annual deadlines, both internal and external. Be part of the team to analyse the systems and procedures relevant to finance operations along with gaining an understanding of the RO Group business and its core principle of being 'In Business to do Business'.
Land: The successful candidate will be involved in supporting the RO Land Director including identifying and appraising development sites, financial analysis, undertaking research and connecting to and building relationships with agents, using mapping tool software along with gaining an understanding of the RO Group business and its core principle of being 'In Business to do Business'.
Investment: The successful candidate will support the development of RO Capital Partners and the wider trading investment strategy of the RO Group through research projects, opportunity appraisal and business development activities. An exciting opportunity to gain experience across a wide range of sectors in an entrepreneurial environment with significant interaction with senior team members of the business.
We are looking for individuals with strong interpersonal skills, a passion for business, good attention to detail and candidates who would thrive in an environment that values agility and imagination.
The INTERN will need the following attributes:
- Be comfortable in using Microsoft office and have a keen attention to detail
- Achieved level 5+ in numeracy and literacy
- Natural curiosity as to how businesses work and create value
- An ability to think creatively to engage, influence and build relationships
- Confident and competent in both written and spoken communication
- Be adaptable and flexible to change and new opportunities that arise
- An ability to travel and stay away from home on short visits from time to time as part of the induction process
Compensation and Benefits package:
- 12-week Internship programme
- Full time, 35 hours per week: 9am to 5pm with one hour for lunch. Based at Graham House, Potters Bar with some travel to other locations required.
- £10k school leaver and 15k university leaver per year pro rata
