A mechanical summer placement at Renishaw offers you the chance to work on real engineering projects that can involve elements of:
- Component design and modelling
- Process design
- Dynamic analysis
- Design for manufacture, mechanisms and control
- Experimental design verification
Using the latest software applications, in-house development processes, technologies and practical skills can give a real insight into engineering business and how Renishaw develops and manufactures innovative new products.
Your placement will involve working on live projects under the mentorship of our senior managers. As well as gaining hands on experience, you will have the opportunity to connect with people working in the business and discuss your career ambitions and ideas with employees in similar roles.
What will I be doing?
During your time with Renishaw, you will benefit from first-hand experience of some of the following:
- Industry standard New Product Development Processes.
- Mechanical design including structural, thermal and material optimisation
- Process design
- Dynamics including design for vibration, shock etc.
- Manufacturing techniques including machining, casting, injection moulding and additive.
- Design Verification including design of experiments
- Mechanisms and control systems
All of this work will be under the guidance of senior engineers who will help broaden and strengthen your technical and commercials skills.
Opportunities are available for placements between 6 and 12 weeks.
Where will I be working?
This role is based out of Renishaw's New Mills head office near Wotton-under-Edge in Gloucestershire. Please note Renishaw is in a semi-rural location therefore it is essential that you have your own form of transport or are willing to relocate to the area
What skills and qualifications do I need?
Ideally you will be studying at sixth form or university in a relevant STEM subject with an interest in Mechanical Engineering.
