Renishaw offers exciting opportunities for placement students on a year-long immersion programme designed to develop ambitious, talented, and self-motivated individuals into skilled experts in their chosen field.
What Will I Gain From This Placement Year?
Each placement will involve working on live projects under the guidance and expertise of experienced colleagues. As well as gaining hands on experience in your chosen field, you will have the opportunity to connect with people working in the business and discuss your career ambitions and ideas with employees in similar roles.
What Will I Be Doing On The Placement?
There are two pathways available, prior to assessment centres, we will call you to discuss your preferences and which pathway may be the best fit.
Electronics Pathway:
You will be mentored to develop your skills and contribute to the project development and encouraged to participate in areas of electronic design, commissioning, testing and manufacture. You will learn about some of the processes used within Renishaw and the attention to detail needed to develop a product, whether it is research, analysing performance or supporting an environment to validate a system. You will be introduced to the design tools and have opportunities to learn about other areas of Renishaw, experiencing the day to day operation of a world class engineering company. Networking with people within the business will develop your knowledge and provide opportunities to discuss your career ambitions.
Manufacturing Electronics Pathway:
An industrial placement within the electronics manufacturing organisation at Renishaw offers you the opportunity to understand and interact with cutting edge technology within a precision electronics assembly and test environment (utilising the latest generations of assembly, interconnection and electronic test process equipment)
You will be given relevant projects and responsibilities related to your interests and discipline studied. The entire placement is spent within the Manufacturing Services Division to enable you to get fully integrated into the team, where you will be mentored and supported by the technical staff and our senior managers. You will be encouraged to participate in the relevant areas; either electronics assembly process engineering or electronics test process development (both areas having process development, process support, and project engineering functions) with activities ranging from process design, project planning, performances analytics, to hands-on support and problem solving. You will be given a real role, with associated responsibilities and tasks that directly contribute to tangible business output.
A successful placement provides an excellent opportunity for you to be considered for a graduate scheme position in the future.
Where Will I Be Working?
This role is based at our New Mills site near Wotton-under-Edge in Gloucestershire. As Renishaw is based in a semi-rural location, it is essential that applicants have their own form of transport or are willing to relocate to the local area. The site is around 25-30 minutes drive from Bristol so easily commutable by car.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
Applicants must be studying for a degree in a related degree course (electronic, physics, electro-mechanical) with a placement requirement.
