What type of things will I be working on?
Within the Mechanical Engineer scheme, you will develop your knowledge and the technical skills in mechanical design, process design, dynamics, manufacturing techniques, design verification, mechanism and control, project management, purchasing and parts specification.
Engineering experience will be gained in:
- Design and test of new products, processes, manufacturing equipment and test systems
- Current product optimisation and redesign
- Custom product design and testing
- Handling customer technical requests
- Project co-ordination and management
Mechanical Engineers develop a wide range of knowledge that enables them to become versatile team members in a variety of roles. Examples of what Mechanical Engineering graduates have gone on to work as include: Mechanical Design Engineer (principal level), Process Dev Engineer, Technical Manager, Design Manger, Project Manager, Operations Manager and Marketing Manager.
What do I need?
Applicants must have a 2:2 or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Aerospace Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Medical Engineering or General Engineering (with specialisation in Mechanical Engineering).
