Renishaw offers exciting opportunities for graduates on their two-year development programmes designed to develop ambitious, talented, and self-motivated individuals into skilled experts in their chosen field.
What will I gain from this graduate scheme?
This programme will be based on a series of placements where you will work on real projects, aligned to your ambitions and interests, that will deliver tangible results to this global business. By investing in your personal development, we hope to build up and broaden your knowledge and experience to create a confident and skilled professional to prepare you for a meaningful role within one of our product or services divisions.
What type of things will I be working on?
As a Materials Science Graduate you will build an understanding of engineering materials such as metals, ceramics and polymers and how they are utilised in industrial settings. You will build a strong foundation in material analysis techniques, materials identification, failure analysis and material selection working in a laboratory environment alongside scientists, engineers, and technicians.
You will be able to identify areas you’re interested and have a voice in influencing materials selection, product design and process improvements, through hands-on use of analytical equipment such as Scanning Electron Microscopes (SEM’s), X-ray Fluorescence (XRF), 2D and 3D optical and digital microscopes, and Industrial 3D X-rayComputed Tomography (XCT).
By the end of the scheme, you will have developed an idea of which area you would like to specialise in for the next stage of your career development. This could include moving into a senior engineer role, or even principle technical expert role. You may even identify a different area of materials science, engineering, or process development where your training and interest could be of business benefit.
Where will I be working?
This role is based at our New Mills site near Wotton-under-Edge in Gloucestershire. As Renishaw is based in a semi-rural location, it is essential that applicants have their own form of transport or are willing to relocate to the local area. The site is around 25-30 minutes drive from Bristol so easily commutable by car.
What do I need?
Applicants must have a 2:1 or higher degree in a relevant degree such as Materials Science and Engineering, Biomedical Science and Materials Chemistry.
