What type of things will I be working on?
On this 1-year graduate scheme, starting September 2024, you will have opportunities to be involved in the design and development of cutting-edge technology, enabling you to further your knowledge of industrial design and human factors tools/techniques across different product lifecycle stages. Your day to day activities will include:
- Collaborating with project teams to conduct user research
- Personas, environment, competitor analysis, concept vision
- Reviewing concept designs against human factors and design best practice guidelines
- Task analysis, process flow, expert review, heuristic review
- Developing solutions and recommendations to improve designs
- Wireframes, functional concepts, mock-ups
- Communicating ideas through sketches and technical reports to support recommendations
- Product visualisation, assembly design, brand identity
- Planning and running usability studies with prototypes
- Verification usability studies, validation usability studies
- Planning collaborative work activities with project teams
- Integration plans, workshops
You will gain knowledge and experience of working on multi-discipline projects which will give you an appreciation of the importance of different roles across Renishaw’s product innovation process, while providing an internal service across Renishaw, supporting mechanical design engineers and software engineers.
What career opportunities are available?
Training and support is offered as required on a continuing basis to support your technical and professional development. Graduate engineers in Renishaw may progress through technical grades into senior and principal engineer roles. However, depending on your skills and preferences, progression through technical and senior manager grades is also possible.

Where will I be working?
This role is based out of one of our main sites in New Mills, near Wotton-under Edge in Gloucestershire. As Renishaw sites are based in semi-rural locations, applicants must have their own form of transport or be willing to relocate to the local area.
What do I need and how do I apply?
We’re looking for passionate graduates with a degree (or equivalent) relating to industrial design/product design engineering.
Training and development is excellent so candidates with no experience but a keen interest in engineering will be strongly considered. If you are excited about the role but feel as though you don’t meet all the requirements, we would encourage you still to apply.
