We're an independent charity based in Milton Keynes, and have been at the forefront of improving the use of energy in buildings since 1988. We aim to give people, organisations and government the knowledge, support and inspiration they need to understand and improve the use of energy in buildings.
NEF is looking to strengthen its Green Deal, Communities and Secretariat Services team by recruiting a further project officer. The role will build on our capacity to provide strategies and solutions that help to reduce the use of energy in both domestic and non-domestic buildings. We are seeking an enthusiastic self-motivated person who has excellent written and verbal communication skills and who wants to make a difference in the energy use and comfort of existing buildings. A background interest in low carbon energy systems and energy management including behavioural change would be a distinct advantage.
We work to deliver projects in all aspects of Energy Efficiency, Behaviour Change and Renewable Energy. We also undertake projects focussed on alleviating fuel poverty. Much of the work we do is specifically commissioned by the communities or collaborative partnerships themselves. Other projects are funded by Local Authorities, Housing Associations or other organisations.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate and coordinate secretariat services for communities of interest
- Plan, organise and deliver events with an energy focus
- Work with individuals, communities and organisations to deliver tangible carbon saving
- Plan, organise, deliver and manage community projects within the local region
- Attend conferences, exhibitions and training events as required and act as an ambassador for the charity?s activities
- Build relationships with key clients including Community Groups, Government (local and national), contractors, housing associations etc
- Manage the budget of individual projects
- Support, assist and deputise for other members of the Foundation as workload andor circumstances may require
Qualifications/experience/skills:
Essential:
- Self-motivated with excellent organisational and time management skills
- Sound knowledge of MS Office applications
- Genuine interest in energy
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
- Highly motivated and willing to take on new challenges
- Ability to work outside of office hours, by arrangement
Desirable:
- Degree in building, sustainability, architecture or energy related subject
- Track record in setting up events and projects
- Experience of using Microsoft Access databases
- Experience of working with community groups or volunteer organisations
- Driving licence access to own vehicle for business use
