The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) is an association governed by Swiss law founded in 1904 and based in Zurich. It has 209 member associations and its goal, enshrined in its Statutes, is the constant improvement of football. FIFA employs some 310 people from over 35 nations and is composed of a Congress (legislative body), Executive Committee (executive body), General Secretariat (administrative body) and committees (assisting the Executive Committee).
The Local Organising Committee of the 2014 FIFA World Cup? launched its Volunteer Programme on 21 August 2012. The programme will be reopened in September 2013. FIFA.com answers some of the most Frequently Asked Questions relating to the process.
1. What is the Volunteer Programme?
The Volunteer Programme is an opportunity for thousands of Brazilians and non-nationals to take part in the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil by volunteering their time or services to the Local Organising Committee.
2. How many volunteers will participate in the 2014 FIFA World Cup?
There will be approximately 15,000 people at the 2014 FIFA World Cup who will be working in activities directly linked to the hosting of the events or at the stadiums.
3. What are the minimum and maximum ages to be a volunteer?
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old before the start of the event they apply for. There is no upper age limit.
4. How can I become a volunteer?
The Volunteer Programme will reopen on 9 September. The registration will be made through FIFA.com.
