Cervus Plus Consulting - Graduate Paralegal

We are a subsidiary of the University of Surrey, formed to provide professional services back to the University in the areas of Health & Safety, Legal and Governance and Risk & Assurance.  Our aim is to commercialise these services, along with any additional future services, to new clients.  We aim to be the leading professional services provider to the Higher Education sector with a focus on excellence and value add.

The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a bright and enthusiastic individual to join us as a Paralegal. You will be responsible for providing support to Cervus+ and its clients with a particular focus on providing these services to the University of Surrey initially.  Your duties could include:

• Providing support on case work and other legal matters, including preparation of bundles
• Support at tribunals, including some attendance
• Support with investigations
• Initial contract reviews and first drafting
• Working on projects to improve processes
• Providing administrative support to Cervus+ and our client base

• £26,000 to £30,000 annual salary

What Are We Looking For?

What we are more interested in is having someone with drive who will be able to upskill quickly, undertaking appropriate technical training if needed.  Just as importantly we are looking for someone with the flexibility, energy and ideas to support us in our development journey. Key skills you should be able to broadly demonstrate are:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to clearly communicate deadlines and manage data collection
• A willingness to learn and take on new challenges
• Good attention to detail
• University degree or equivalent in a relevant law discipline

What Would Be An Added Benefit

• A qualification such as LLM, LPC or CILEX
• Previous paralegal experience
• An understanding or appreciation of the higher education sector
