A graduate from Lincoln University has been shortlisted for a young designer of the year award after creating a furniture range that looks good enough to eat.

After taking inspiration from her favourite confectionery, Amy Vinn, 24, from March, Cambridgeshire, created a five-piece Liquorice Allsorts set, which includes four stools and a table.

The innovative designs are made from MDF frames, foam padding and a variety of fabrics to form giant replicas of the iconic sweets.

Miss Vinn said: "It was while talking to my mum about it that I said: 'It takes all sorts'. Liquorice Allsorts are my favourite sweet and it all went from there."

Since completing a furniture degree last summer she has taken her colourful creations on the road visiting various exhibitions catching the eye of a design company based near Venice, Italy, which has offered her a coveted three-month placement.

Miss Vinn hopes the set will go into production and, in the long-term, she wants to set up her own company.
