Lancaster Tops Graduate Jobs Poll

Lancaster University has been named as the best educational institution in the north of England for helping graduates secure jobs. More than 80% of students go on to find employment within six months of completing their course and The Sunday Times University Guide ranked Lancaster University as the best in the region for securing graduate jobs. University officials claimed their job rate success was helped by the Lancaster Award scheme, which helps prepare students for the graduate jobs market. The project offers students advice on filling in job applications and also sees them take part in work experience, mock job interviews and volunteering to give them skills when they start looking for full-time employment. John Morewood, European graduate recruitment manager for HSBC, said: "The Lancaster Award helps students demonstrate that they have developed and possess the personal, social and employability skills that are invaluable to HSBC and other graduate recruiters across all sectors."
