Four graduate trainees have begun work at the Plymouth office of audit, tax and advisory firm KPMG.

The new graduates have joined the firm's audit practice, and during their training will work with some of Devon and Cornwall's leading organisations including the South West Regional Development Agency, Plymouth City Development Company and the Theatre Royal Plymouth.

Phillip Osgathorpe, Rebecca Lambert, Sarah Mitchell and Sihui Zeng will also study for professional qualifications that will lead to them becoming chartered accountants.

Last year, the KPMG Plymouth office took on five graduates.

Ian Brokenshire, senior partner at the firm said the appointments show a commitment to providing opportunities to new graduates, especially in the current climate.

He said: "Despite the tough current economic conditions we strongly believe it is essential to have the next generation of talent coming up through the ranks at KPMG."

Mr Brokenshire added that the firm was "pleased to have four such bright young people joining our team".
