Renishaw offers exciting opportunities for placement students on a year-long immersion programme designed to develop ambitious, talented, and self-motivated individuals into skilled experts in their chosen field.
What Will I Gain From This Placement Year?
Each placement will involve working on live projects under the guidance and expertise of experienced colleagues. As well as gaining hands on experience in your chosen field, you will have the opportunity to connect with people working in the business and discuss your career ambitions and ideas with employees in similar roles.
What Will I Be Doing On This Placement?
Our physics/scientific-based industrial placement involves working on live projects under the mentorship of our senior engineers. The work could be in any phase of the product development process from the initial product and technology research phase, through all new product design stages, or in the continued engineering and maintenance of our established product lines.
If you are interested in seeing first-hand how physics principles are applied to real physical and optical problems in engineering, this is an exciting opportunity to experience working in pioneering technologies in the design and development of innovative, world-leading, products.
Where Will I Be Working?
This role is based in Renishaw’s research and development office on the research park of Heriot-Watt university on the western outskirts of Edinburgh.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
The industrial placements scheme at Renishaw is suitable for students who are required to undertake a sandwich placement (nominally 12 months) as part of their degree course. Students applying for this position should be studying a relevant degree course, including a large physics and mathematics component.
