The Code Approval Team, (CAT) supports Pfizer’s transformational change by reviewing and approving high quality and engaging omnichannel content for patients and physicians.
The Code Approval Team consists of doctors, pharmacists and colleagues with life sciences background who work closely with colleagues across the business. These internal teams may comprise of sales and marketing colleagues and those in non-promotional roles (e.g. patient experience/engagement roles, healthcare development), as well as colleagues outside the Business Unit, (BU) working on BU related activities, such as corporate affairs colleagues
This is an excellent opportunity to learn about how the pharmaceutical industry is regulated and gain experience of the different functions across a pharmaceutical company, thus providing an insight into the different career opportunities pharmaceutical industry has to offer.
What can I achieve and what will I be accountable for whilst completing a placement at Pfizer?
As part of a vibrant and talented Code Approval team, you can look forward to developing numerous skills and being a valued team player.
You will develop a multitude of skills including:
To get an in depth understanding of the regulations that guide the development of promotional and non-promotional activities and materials To work closely with cross-functional team and provide compliance support activities from the concept stage through the material/activity lifecycle Familiarise with the approval and archiving platforms used by the cross functional team Understanding and interpretation of scientific data and its transformation into promotional and non-promotional material Teamwork skills through your role in various matrix teams It is also a fantastic way to obtain a better understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and the types of roles it has to offer.
Roles and opportunities will include:
- You will learn about the ABPI Code of practice and Pfizer SOPs (standard operating procedures) and help to ensure that all activity is compliant.
- You will compile relevant case studies to improve team knowledge on relevant industry regulations (e.g. ABPI code of practice) and Pfizer Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Assist the Code Approval team in key projects and understand key deliverables Help with upskilling cross-functional team in lates regulation and guidelines
- You will develop in-depth scientific knowledge of Pfizer medicines within your nominated therapy area(s) as well as that of key competitors

You will also get opportunities to attend conferences, meetings and training in relation to the projects that you work on.
When can I start?
Placements will start on 4th September 2023 and will run for 12 months.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Type of person we are looking for, in relation to ‘Skills’, ‘Knowledge’ and ‘Motivation’:
- Completing placement as part of University Degree either through Year In Industry/Industrial Placement or Gap Year On target for a Degree Classification in a health or science related field
- Able and self-assured to challenge the status quo
- Reliable and able to meet deadlines Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
- Ability to use initiative and work effectively in a team environment Strong Maths and English skills Confidence to liaise with Pfizer personnel at all levels
- Ability to generate creative and innovative ideas Excellent interpersonal skills, tenacity and the ability to influence others Expertise with a range of software (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and digital communication tools (e.g. apps, websites, social media).
