Graduate Developer - Totally Agile
About Thomsons...
Might as well start with something that’s going to catch your attention right? And why stop there? Picture this – An innovative company that has just secured a huge investment from a technology savvy private equity house, based in Boston USA. So we’re looking to spend on the latest and greatest. Both people and technology.
TDD, MVC4 and a totally Agile development environment is the way we run all our projects – all we want from you is plenty of passion. A fire in your belly to take on greenfield, Cloud and Enterprise projects, because that’s exactly what we want to do.
We want pros. We want people at the top of their game. We want you to turn up to our office in your geekiest t-shirt and get lost in a world of code. Our Technology team work in a collaborative and friendly atmosphere. You’re measured by your deliverables - so hit those and we’ll buy you donuts.
You know what the best part is though? We’re a company that’s small enough for you to make a difference, and large enough for it to matter.
Sounds exciting doesn’t it?!
What’s even more exciting is that we work with some of the biggest company names in the world – from 6 of the 10 biggest tech companies by market capitalisation, to smaller niche players; we understand the technology sector better than anyone else in our industry.
Why join Thomsons...
You’re still reading – so we’re going to assume you’re interested. But you might be asking yourself “why should I join Thomsons?”
Good question. And the answer is simple - we think it’s a pretty cool place to work. Ask any one of our 400 employees in the UK, Singapore, Romania or the US, and we know they’ll tell you the same.
The people in our Technology Team seem to stick around year after year - and it’s growing at a rapid rate of knots, giving you plenty of room to develop and progress your career. We continue to invest in our technology through training programs and attending cutting-edge technology conferences such as Build and iDesign.
Plus - don’t be surprised if it’s Monday afternoon and you’re enjoying a massage (by a professional masseuse, not the person next to you), or if you turn up to work and there’s free fruit in the kitchen. This is pretty average stuff provided for our employees that are anything but average.
Thomsons People are ambitious, collaborative and successful people – and they get treated that way. Oh – and pink. Our CEO really likes the colour pink, but trust us, it’ll make more sense when you come in for your interview and see our offices in all their glory.
It’s all well and good having a snazzy pink office – but we also need to make sure Thomsons People are offered some snazzy benefits. After all, we are an employee benefits company, so it would be a bit strange if we didn’t practise what we preach. Apart from all of the usual’s – Pension, Private Medical Insurance etc. we have some you won’t find in other places. Why not have a look:
Personal Learning Account – We actively encourage you to have a life outside of work. With the PLA, we’ll put up to £50 per month towards something you like to do. Whether that’s a gym membership, learning a new language like Klingon, or any personal development you might be undertaking – we want to contribute.
Taste card – Do you eat food? Of course you do. So why not do it any one of the thousands of restaurants in England that are covered by the Taste Card. Stuff your face and get either 2 for 1, or 50% off your bill.
Health Screening – We want to look after you. It’s in our best interests after all. So it’s handy that you can get an annual health check-up right here in the office. A healthcare professional will come in and make sure you’re in tip-top condition, and ready to take on the 3 peaks challenge later this year. A whole bunch of us Thomsons people are doing it. You should too.
Pay it Forward – Do you like raising money for charity? We love that tingly feeling you get when you help someone out. Here at Thomsons, our Pay it Forward programme will match any donations you raise up to £500. As long it’s for a legitimate charity, and not one you made up, we don’t mind how you raise money!!
A bit about us...
We haven’t actually mentioned what it is we do yet. But since you’re still reading – we think it’s time to tell you.
In 2000, two guys named Michael Whitfield and Chris Bruce decided that the way employee benefits were being communicated and delivered to employees in the UK was old fashioned and boring. Stacks of paper all over the place doesn’t exactly sound cutting-edge does it? And let’s not forget about those poor old trees.
They knew that online was the way forward, and with that revelation – Thomsons Online Benefits was born.
We now work with some of the biggest companies in the world to help their employees recognise that they don’t just receive a salary from their employer – they receive so much more.
Our award winning technology – Darwin – allows employees to choose their own benefits package, and HR and payroll to easily report on any costs. It has 500,000 users in 60 different countries.
We now have plenty of competition (in a market we pretty much invented) but are still holding our own as market leaders. Michael and Chris are still with us – tackling the competitors head on, they’re just a wee bit older.
We want people that have the same sort of vision and drive that Michael and Chris did, and still do, to take this company into the future. We’re looking for more great minds to help us deliver the next stage of our journey. Why not come along for the ride? As you can see – the future is pink….
