SHORT OUTLINE:
We are looking for five highly motivated graduates to join our growing organisation as Graduate Merchandising Consultants. The five positions will be spread across the country covering the territories of: Scotland, the North, the Midlands, Wales and the South West and the South East.
THE ROLE:
Following graduation from a Business or Management background, the successful candidate will be joining ITW CP at an incredibly exciting time. We are investing heavily in our sales force and our product as well as the training and development of our employees. The economic downturn does not exist here! The role will initially take the title of 'Merchandising Consultant'.
The first three months of the programme will be dedicated to intensive training; interaction with the brand and its products, marketing, customer management and sales force shadowing. The company's objective within this period is to train, develop and support the individual as they settle into the role of Merchandising Consultant. This stage of the programme is also designed to give the individual a firm grounding on all areas of the business but particularly forging a strong relationship with the sales force.
Following the first three months initiation into the company, on a day-to-day basis the individual will be required to monitor, control and expand product penetration within our major customers, such as Screwfix, Travis Perkins, Jewsons, Wolseley and Grafton. The successful candidate will be expected to forge lasting relationships with branch managers, implement marketing strategies within their stores and advise the sales force when additional stock is required.
Throughout the course, the graduate will be given clear objectives and targets with a supervisor 'buddy' always on hand to answer questions and offer guidance. Obviously this job will require the individual to travel a lot so those unwilling to travel need not apply. A company car will be provided
On a quarterly basis the candidate will attend the sales meeting and all relevant sales conferences and meetings. On a monthly basis they will work with members of the sales force, receive marketing and customer management training and on the road sales training from a Sales Manager. The individual must be self motivated and driven to succeed.
All sales and marketing ideas will be welcomed and the individual will be encouraged to implement their own strategies alongside company initiatives to ensure the merchandising department compliments the sales department on all levels. The strength and success of these strategies and their implementation will determine the individual's ability to fulfil a management position in the future.
After successful completion of the 36-month programme, the individual will be well placed to move swiftly up the career ladder within ITW. Primarily the individual will be working towards joining the sales team but their development will stand them in good stead to apply for any position within the organisation.
