We are part of the Forestry Commission and we manage the nation’s forests and all the associated commercial and business interests. We look after the largest landholding in the country with over 1,500 forests, housing and varied recreational areas.
What does our programme involve?
We are looking for up to three graduates to start their journeys on our two-year graduate leadership programme in summer or early autumn 2023.
Our graduates manage or support projects in an operational forestry environment such as delivering woodland creation, planning forestry operations, recreation opportunity scoping, and community consultation. There will be lots of opportunities to work outdoors.
- Year one - You will be placed in the South, Central, or East Forest district, with our main district offices being Lyndhurst, Sherwood, and Thetford respectively. You will focus on learning about the different functional departments (e.g. operations, planning, environment, recreation) and gain hands on experience.
- Year two - You will join the National Operations Team, based in Bristol, and have the opportunity to develop policy, scope new projects, and support delivery of nation-wide programmes.

What are we looking for?
- 2:1 or 1st (or international equivalent) in degrees relating to the environment, sustainability, forestry and land management, economics or business are preferred.
- We welcome applications from those with other degree subjects, providing you can demonstrate relevant interest in the environment/outside world.
- Full Clean UK driving license.
