Start your career with purpose
At Rathbones, we help people invest their money well, so they can live well. That’s our purpose, and it guides everything we do. If you’re a graduate looking to build a meaningful career in wealth management, our Graduate Programme is a great place to begin.
You’ll be joining a team that’s focused on long-term relationships and sustainable success. We’re looking for people who want to learn, get stuck in and take charge of where they go next.
What we value
We believe in doing things properly, and for the long term. That means delivering consistent results, earning trust and acting responsibly.
Our values shape how we work:
- We aim high
- We get it done
- We show we care
- We do the right thing
We’re looking for graduates who are thoughtful and open to learning. You don’t need a finance background, but you should be motivated to grow and ready to make a positive impact.
What you’ll experience
Over two years, you’ll rotate through different parts of our business. That might include investment management, financial planning, research, operations, investment risk or marketing. You’ll build technical skills, learn how to work with clients and get a feel for where your strengths lie.
You’ll be supported throughout the programme with:
- Professional qualifications (such as the Level 4 Investment Advice Diploma, followed by relevant Level 7 qualifications such as CWM or CII)
- Continued training and development including a mentor
- A buddy to help you settle in
- Opportunities to connect with other graduates and early-career colleagues
At the end of the programme, you’ll be able to apply for a permanent role in one of our client-facing teams.
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for graduates who want to learn, get stuck in and take charge of where they go next.
You’ll need:
- A 2:1 degree in your undergraduate degree in any subject
- A genuine interest in investment and financial markets
- Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships
- Confidence with numbers and attention to detail
- A collaborative mindset and respect for others
- Curiosity, initiative and a willingness to get involved
- Awareness of industry developments and regulation
- Strong IT literacy, including an interest in automation and AI
- Share our passion for ensuring an excellent client experience
What we offer
We invest in our people, starting with you. From day one, you’ll be part of a business that’s committed to your growth, wellbeing and success.
Benefits include:
- Company pension

- And lots more, such as life assurance, income protection and share schemes
As a graduate you’ll join our Next Gen Network, which brings together a community of trainees from across the UK, who are all at the early stages of their careers and offers development opportunities, exposure across the business as well as peer support and connections.
You’ll also be able to join our social and inclusion networks, from sports teams and charity events to our colleague led inclusion networks focused on gender balance, multicultural inclusion, abilities and social mobility and more.
We’re a level 1 Disability Confident employer under the UK government scheme. This means we’ve signed up a set of responsibilities around how we recruit, retain and develop people with disabilities.
