This growing accountancy practice in central Bristol is looking for an Accounts Assistant / Bookkeeper to join its expanding team. It’s an exciting opportunity to build practical experience, develop your client skills and grow your accounting career within a supportive practice.

The Company:
You’ll be joining a practice with a friendly and collaborative culture. The team currently has just under 20 employees and has ambitious plans to continue expanding over the next two years. Colleagues are encouraged to share knowledge, support one another and develop together, creating a professional but approachable working environment.
The Role:
Importantly, this is not an accounts preparation role, and previous accounts preparation experience isn’t required.
You’ll receive a structured induction and technical training, helping you build the confidence and knowledge you need to succeed.
After successfully completing your six-month probation, the firm can sponsor AAT or ACCA qualifications.
Day-to-day you will:
- Complete bank reconciliations, ledger management and data entry
- Process expense claims accurately and efficiently
- Communicate with clients through Teams, telephone and occasional face-to-face meetings
- Explain financial information clearly and professionally
- Work towards important client deadlines and maintain high standards of accuracy
- Progress towards managing your own portfolio of around 20 clients
Depending on your development and career goals, there may also be scope to move into accounts preparation after around 9–12 months.

Requirements:
Must have
- AAT, IAB, relevant A Levels or a relevant university degree
- Able to commute to Bristol 5 days per week
- Genuine motivations to begin your career as a Trainee Accounts Assistant/ Bookkeeper
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
Nice-to-Have
- Previous experience within an accountancy practice
- Familiarity with accounting software such as Xero, Sage or QuickBooks
- Understanding of HMRC processes, bookkeeping, or payroll
