Founded in 1968, the Institute of Student Employers (ISE) formerly known as the Association of Graduate Recruiters (AGR) is an employer-led membership organisation, whose goal it is to ensure that all our members can recruit and develop the best student talent for their needs and the needs of the UK economy.
With a diverse network of over 700 members, we achieve our mission by bringing together employers, the education sector, and supplier partners to:
- Campaign for the better development of emerging talent employment and career skills.
- Articulate the needs of employers who recruit and develop emerging talent.
- Disseminate and promote excellence and innovation in the resourcing and development of emerging talent.

Networking events
The ISE gives you the opportunity to be a part of the wider graduate recruitment community. We host around 50 networking events a year, which bring graduate industry professionals together to discuss their problems and ideas, and to share best practice; including how to market to students.
Sector Focus Groups
Sector Focus Groups give ISE members the chance to meet with their sector peers up to four times a year, creating an open forum to discuss matters of mutual interest. We currently run meetings within seven sectors: IT, Retail, FMCG, Legal, Finance; Built Environment/Engineering/Energy/Industry; and Public Sector.
Development networks
If you are interested and involved in the development of graduates, our special development network meetings are designed to allow you to meet like-minded professionals. With a similar format to our popular sector focus group meetings, the development network typically meets three times a year.
ISE's Graduate Recruitment Survey
Our biannual Graduate Recruitment Survey is a vital tool, used extensively by our members to inform and improve their graduate recruitment strategies. Published twice a year, our surveys provide the most extensive and detailed insight into the state of the graduate jobs market, with statistics on graduate salaries, vacancy/application ratios, marketing spend, and retention.
Student Recruiter magazine
Student Recruiter is the official magazine of the ISE, published six times a year, providing informed news and bench-marking data, intelligent comment and topical features. All members of ISE are welcome to contribute to the magazine.
Representation
ISE prides itself on being the Collective Voice of Student Recruiters and Developers. An ISE membership will give your organisation the chance to have its voice heard within the industry.

We gather information from across the sector bringing you the latest news, jobs and events. As an ISE member, you will not only receive our weekly newsletter, but you will also gain access to our active LinkedIn community, where open debate and discussion is strongly encouraged.

Learning & Development: ISE Professional

Two major Conferences
ISE members can attend our one day Development Conference in March, as well as our Student Recruitment Conference - the largest event of its kind in Europe - which is held in July. Both events feature industry awards, which recognise and reward best practice in all aspects of graduate recruitment and development. Due to the number of costs associated with running events of this scale, members are subject to a discounted delegate fee.
The Scotland Group
The ISE also runs a regional group based in Scotland. This group is cross-sector, with meetings alternating between Glasgow and Edinburgh. The Scotland Group is typically attended by a range of recruiters and universities.
