Renishaw offers exciting opportunities for placement students on a year-long immersion programme designed to develop ambitious, talented, and self-motivated individuals into skilled experts in their chosen field.
What Will I Gain From This Placement Year?
Each placement will involve working on live projects under the guidance and expertise of experienced colleagues. As well as gaining hands on experience in your chosen field, you will have the opportunity to connect with people working in the business and discuss your career ambitions and ideas with employees in similar roles.
What Will I Be Doing On The Placement?
Successful applicants are placed directly into a Renishaw software development team, contributing directly to our current product development, as a means of learning software engineering in industry. Teams will pitch the work at a level geared for the individual, with progressive personal development aimed at creating a confident and productive software engineer over the course of the placement.
Programming languages applied are usually C# and C++ with WPF UI and occasionally others depending upon the desired solution and platform that the software is to run on. Our aim is to provide you with a variety of software development methodologies and approaches, including Agile based lifecycles, supported by formal training, throughout your placement year.
A successful placement provides an excellent opportunity for you to be considered for a graduate scheme position in the future.
Where Will I Be Working?
This role is based out of one of our major sites in Gloucestershire - Wotton-under-Edge (Head Office), Woodchester or Stonehouse. As Renishaw sites are based in semi-rural locations, it is essential that applicants have their own form of transport or are willing to relocate to the local area. Sites are within between 25 and 40 minutes from Bristol so easily commutable by car.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
The industrial placements scheme at Renishaw is suitable for students who are required to undertake a sandwich placement as part of their degree course. Relevant degrees include: software engineering or computer science or similar. Physics, mathematics, engineering or similar degrees are acceptable if interest in software is evident.
