Mizuho is not your typical financial institution.
Mizuho offer a fantastic opportunity to gain experience within a global corporate investment bank, working on real projects, whilst developing a strong professional network within a bank that prides itself on its inclusive, cooperative and friendly company culture.
We offer the best of both worlds—the feeling of a boutique work environment within a global organisation. Our steady growth in EMEA gives our people at all levels rewarding degrees of responsibility and a richer work experience than a small firm or an established giant could offer alone.
Summer Internship - Finance Department
The Internship programme is a 10-week programme starting in June 2025. The aim is that successful interns will be offered a permanent position on the 2026 Mizuho Graduate Programme (commencing September 2026).

What will I be doing?
In the UK, Mizuho operates through two entities:
- Mizuho International plc (MHI) is the London based securities and investment banking arm of the Mizuho Financial Group. With a primary focus on client-based activities, its wide range of services includes sales and trading, the underwriting of new issues and M&A advisory services.
- Mizuho Bank, Ltd., London Branch (MHBK) is the UK branch of the Japanese headquartered Mizuho Bank, Ltd. It’s the largest of Mizuho Bank's offices so supports other branches and provides an extensive range of corporate lending and deposit-taking activities. These activities are complemented by a sophisticated treasury operation.
The Finance team provides support to both these entities, encompassing a wide spectrum of clients. It fulfils the role and responsibility of providing internal and external financial measurement and reporting on business performance to management and all areas of the global organisation.

- Regulatory Reporting: responsible for calculating, monitoring and reporting regulatory capital and liquidity to Senior Management, the business and the respective regulatory bodies.
- Tax: responsible for tax policy and compliance, the management of the company’s tax affairs and interaction with the tax authorities.
- Procurement and Accounts Payable: responsible for negotiation of the company’s third-party contract spend, in addition to the processing of much of the company’s non-trading related cashflows.
