Job description
The Hydraulic Engineer duties are to lead a job or a project from the enquiry stage to its successful completion and supervise technicians to ensure quality, lead time and financial objectives are met or exceeded. Engineering projects will require a high level of attention to detail, responsiveness, technical check and management of documentation. The scope of the engineering builds may include hydraulic power units, control consoles, bespoke hydraulic systems and manifolds.
The Hydraulic Engineer will be responsible for providing the technical information to the customer, suppliers, sub-contractors, on-site/workshop hydraulic technicians. He/she must ensure the clear system functional understanding from all the different persons involved in the project, approve sub-contractors design and get the customer design approval via the produced documents and following our design procedure.
The Hydraulic Engineer will be responsible for maintaining communication and documentation control between the customer, suppliers, sub-contractors, on-site/workshop hydraulic technicians, preparing all the technical documents, work instructions and RAMS, technical specifications, tracking material shortages, compiling document packs (paper and electronic), and assisting with material and equipment preparation.
As part of this role the Hydraulic Engineer will work in the workshop and on-site. He/she will be involved in activities such as commissioning, fault finding, mechanical assembly, hoses manufacture, rigid piping, flushing and pressure testing.
This position will be a varied and challenging role with positive opportunities for a motivated individual to develop the position to achieve their own career goals.
The first 6 months of the role will be an internship facilitated by Northumbria University Enterprise and Business Support (NEBS) and supported by the European Regional Development Fund. It is open to recent graduates of any university in the EU.

Engineering projects will range in size and duration from 4 weeks to 6 months and will be predominately for customers in the North East of England though there may be opportunities and requirements to work on-sites around the UK, Europe and the rest of the world from time to time. We have customers from any sector however due to the local economy the main sectors we work for are offshore renewable, oil & gas and automotive.
