A family based in Surrey are looking for a bright, dedicated graduate to help with one-to-one educational support predominantly for their 14-year-old daughter, as well as assisting with their 12-year-old daughter when needed.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent graduate looking to gain valuable experience in teaching or child development in education before a career in teaching, or looking to gain experience on a gap year.
Key Responsibilities (during school hours)
- Acting as a 'teaching assistant' during school hours, going to all the core classes (English, maths, science, history and art) to support with taking notes and assisting when the pupil needs direct attention and help.
- During non-core classes, spending one-on-one time going through homework, revision, tests and exam preparation.
- Liaise with both support and subject teachers to find out the methods they use to teach each subject and apply same in tutoring and revising.
Key Responsibilities (outside of school hours)
- Produce a visual schedule for both children and place them in areas of the house that are always accessible to them and their parents.
- Spending time after school hours going over necessary work and assisting with personal goals and development in core subjects.
- Working occasional Saturdays when it is exam season, and during school holidays planning and taking the pupils out on 'educational trips' that will help to develop social skills and confidence outside of school.
What do You Need?
- A 2:1 or above (or equivalent) in a relevant degree subject.
- A full UK driving license, as you will be split across two locations on the Surrey and Berkshire border.
- Experience in working with young people in any capacity would be a bonus but is not essential.
- An interest in working in child development or the education sector.
- To be able to start ASAP.
A DBS check will be provided by the employer
