The Company
A well-recognised, innovative and collaborative health organisation, increasingly looking to shift investment towards non-biomedical research, specifically in the fields of informatics and data science.
They are offering the opportunity to join a dynamic working environment, full of individuals who are passionate about the cause.
The Role
This is a completely greenfield role, with this person being brought in to develop and in time lead a data science function. They are completely tool agnostic meaning you will dictate what infrastructure to implement and as the company expert in this area, will set best practice for the team.
While there is a heavy strategic element that comes with setting up a team from scratch, this role will suit somebody who isn't afraid of getting their hands dirty as you will likely be the sole data scientist for the first few months. Provisions have already been made however, for the hiring of a Data Engineer early next year who you will line manage.
You will be heavily focused on machine learning and NLP and one key project will be to develop an AI driven chatbot.
While this role will interface with the analytics of behavioural data in donor journeys, the primary focus will be the digital health piece, working on cause led projects ultimately using data to reduce the amount of people affected by this condition.
The successful candidate is likely to have:
- A proven track record of applying a range of data science approaches
- A passion about the power of data to achieve real world benefits
- The ability to use data to tell a compelling and engaging story
- An education to PhD level or at least a strong MSc or BSc in a numerical subject
- The gravitas and credibility required to line manage
