Our client is an award-winning global supplier of address data management and data integrity software solutions. This global information solutions company has over 450 staff based in offices across Europe, North America and Asia Pacific and 10,000 customers.

Product Development Department:

The Product Development department currently has 60 staff where every member of the team has extensive knowledge of the software development lifecycle. The department is split into six teams: Applications Development, Engines Development, Mainframe, Technology, Project Management and Quality Assurance. These also contain smaller groups that focus on specific activities such as documentation and installation images.

Job Summary:

You will join one of four London development teams. Each team consists of approximately six developers who work together under the direction of a team manager on projects to build new core products or enhance existing functionality. A team works on all aspects of a product, on Windows and UNIXLinux environments, typically including:

- Data processing indexing and search engines (developed in C)
- Middleware components (CC++)
- Graphical User Interfaces (C++MFC)
- Web services and clients (AJAX)
- Best practice integration code (eg. JSP, C.NET, PHP).

Developers are responsible for developing high quality implementations, and testing that their work meets its specification ahead of a handover to the Quality Assurance department. They also contribute to software specifications and designs.

Essential skills and qualifications:

- A 2:1 degree in a numerate subject, and at least 300 points at A-Level or excellent equivalent experience.
- Proven programming experience (ideally in C, experience in other languages such as Java and C++ will be considered). This can include university projects.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Familiar with the full development lifecycle, with good design and specification skills.
- Excellent understanding of coding methods and best practices.
- Flexible and adaptable in regards to learning and understanding new technologies.
- Ability to conduct research into software-related issues and products.
- Highly self motivated and directed: able to work under pressure and to deadlines.
- Must be a programming enthusiast.
