The company provides a range of applications, known as a trading platform, which automate the front and mid-office business flows for sell side firms trading equities in the US, European, Japanese and Asian markets. In designing the trading platform, the company has taken the unique approach of viewing the trading system from a workflow automation perspective. This guiding principle has steered the development of the platform to become a set of applications, based on a common infrastructure, each of which automates a specific and well-defined area of business process flow.
When combined with the implementation skills of more than 150 experienced specialists, the company's trading platform has become the natural choice for the majority of the world's top tier investment banks.
As a graduate Operational Engineer, you will join my client's expanding market data development team. The software managed by this team connects to and distributes data globally from all of the largest equity and derivative exchanges.
You will be expected to provide 3rd line support for their production and test environments and to help build administration tools and reports to aid the smooth running of this fast-paced environment. With the growth of the group the position offers great prospects, with potential for team leading and travel.
Suitable candidates will have a natural desire to learn, have graduated with a technology related degree at 2.2 or above and have gained experience with most of the following:
- A modern UNIX environment, such as Linux or Solaris
- Scripting in TCL, Python or PHP
- Relational databases
- Software development life cycle
This is a great opportunity to learn new skills within an evolving and performance critical system.
