Choosing a Postgraduate Course | Research Degrees and Taught Programmes | Further study FAQ & Postgraduate courses | Funding Postgraduate Study | Study and Training Abroad
You may have already decided to go on studying or to take up training for a particular career. The UK has plenty of courses to choose from, but if you are leaving home anyway you could do part or all of your higher education or training abroad.
As well as economic links, the UK has strong educational relationships with Europe and also with the English-speaking countries of the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. While studying abroad will make you more confident and broadens your personal experience it could also improve your chances of finding employment in the UK and overseas. However, if you don't want to spend the whole of your studies abroad, all UK universities and many higher education colleges offer an opportunity to study part of your degree in a higher education institution in another country - but not all UK universities offer this in all subjects.
Studying in EU and EEA countries
Students in EU countries have the same rights of access to higher education in all EU member states as they do in their home country. As long as you have have the relevant qualifications, you can study to degree level in another EU country. Most first degree qualifications gained in the EU and western European countries have equivalent status, but consult the National Academic Recognition Information Centre (NARIC) in your destination country for more details. You can check out the European Network of Information Centres website at: www.enic-naric.net
