Can we bank on you to be part of our dynamic contact centre team as and when we need you?

This is an exciting opportunity to join an award-winning team and work hours that suit your lifestyle. Perhaps you can only work part of the day or part of the week – that’s fine - Some people will be called on only in the build up to the Olympic bike race in Surrey. We’ll give you plenty of notice when we need you but you’ll have no obligation to take the work.

But we think you’ll want to!

There’s great team spirit. Plus, joining our bank staff could set you on an exciting journey. Not only will you receive all the benefits of working for the Council, you’ll also have access to great training with the chance to apply for internal roles you wouldn’t normally hear about.

We’re the central hub of information for the residents of Surrey, so you’ll answer a wide and interesting range of enquiries. We’ll look to you to provide information, mediated access to services, or support. Sometimes you’ll refer the call to internal or external colleagues, sometimes you’ll be able to resolve the situation then and there.

We’re looking for talkative people who will enjoy supporting our customers all day. Perhaps you’re looking for a role that will fit around your family commitments or study. Whatever your background, you will need excellent spoken English together with the ability to provide prompt, efficient, and sensitive responses to people from all walks of life.

It’s likely you’ve already worked in a contact or call centre or customer service environment. You’ll need to be skilled at listening, thinking quickly, and teasing out issues with the ICT skills to operate our systems at the same time. And, equally importantly, you’ll have the ability to pass on your knowledge of the County, district, and borough councils’ work.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Angela Kitching on 020 8541 9338 or Kerrie Gould on 020 8541 7023.

Surrey County Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

We want to be an inclusive and diverse employer of first choice, reflecting the community we serve and particularly welcome applications from all under-represented groups.
