Public relations (PR) is the discipline which looks after reputation, with the aim of earning understanding and support and influencing opinion and behaviour. It is the planned and sustained effort to establish and maintain goodwill and mutual understanding between an organisation and its publics.
Graduates interested in a career in public relations sometimes focus on a specific area: public or corporate companies and services, charities, fast-moving fashion goods (FMFG), consumer, business to business, financial, events, music, sport etc. Indeed most products and services have a press or public relations person behind them, so there is no shortage of potential employers. Many graduates start off in temporary or work placements positions which lead on to full time employment once they have proved themselves to be worthy of a job. For more about PR jobs click here.
