The most important aspect of your answer is to make sure it is not controversial or overtly political. Being diplomatic will be an important skill for your future career in the armed forces. This is a relatively open question so use it to showcase your knowledge about the armed forces and their role in modern Britain and throughout the world.  

This is a classic question for all interviews but it will almost certainly come up in an interview for the armed forces. You will need to prepare a strong answer. A good example will be recent, long term, highly pressured and unexpected. Demonstrate your knowledge of desirable characteristics for a leader ? ability to delegate, confident, calm under pressure.

Most applicants will have good background knowledge of the army/navy/air force and will know what aspect they are particularly interested in. However, many candidates may have less knowledge about the army or just be unsure about what they would like to do. This is not a problem for this stage of the application. It is important however that you have some idea and you are able to discuss these ideas, for example is it engineering, logistics, catering or cavalry which particularly interests you? There may be 2 or 3 different regiments that you are interested in, so research these and identify what it is that appeals to you.
