A brief insight into the ICI Purchasing job function
Purchasing manages all third party cash expenditure, which runs to many millions of Euros worth of raw materials, packaging and distribution services, on a global scale. In this environment, even a 1% saving on purchased goods can have a massive impact on our profitability.

Type of work
More than simply trying to negotiate suppliers' prices down, Purchasing is about total cash management, internally and externally. Interacting with all areas of the business, you will be responsible for the strategic research and analysis of all third party expenditure.

Your initial role may include such activities as negotiating price reductions, supplier market research, spend analysis and benchmarking. You may then move on to work as a front-line buyer in areas such as consumables, packaging, raw materials and services.

Training and development
Experience in Purchasing will provide you with an excellent foundation for your development. If you show ambition, initiative and commitment, we will provide you with all the training you need to achieve your goals, this may include studying for professional qualifications.

What we're looking for
Roles in Purchasing have a strategic rather than transactional focus and therefore require high-potential graduates with a mature outlook, commercial flair, lots of energy, negotiation skills and a good understanding of financial issues.
