A brief insight into an ICI Human Resources job function
Human Resources is a dynamic, business-focused discipline charged with aligning people with our overall strategic direction. It works to drive our business forward by addressing specific commercial problems and challenges whilst developing ways of raising our game still further.
Type of work
In general, our HR professionals are responsible for developing the structures, processes and competencies necessary to fulfil the company's strategy. This includes creating an enjoyable and rewarding environment in which ideas are shared and individuals are motivated to excel.
For example, by taking a role in Human Resources you may be required to help define and fill individual positions, or develop and manage a broad based training programme, or perhaps work on a way of encouraging remote teams to work together effectively across time zones and cultures.
Training and development
Just as Human Resources provides training opportunities for professionals throughout the company, you will also receive the necessary support to achieve your particular goals. However, as a highly motivated graduate, we will expect you to make a proactive contribution to your own development.
What we're looking for
To be successful in this field, you do not need a specific degree. However, you do need to have a genuine interest in business and, in particular, how people contribute to its success - a desire to understand the motivations of both organisations and individuals, and how they interact.
