Hi I'm Rebecca I'm a Specialist Consultant here at the GRB and I oversee our Engineering and Science recruitment. Engineering and Science was my chosen specialism because of its diversity which feeds my inquisitive nature and practical interest in shaping our world it consistently. After studying BSc in Geography at Newcastle University and experiencing a full life at University, I explored my options and initially pursued my interest in property, moving down to Brighton on the sunny south coast. I developed some strong sales skills as an Estate Agent but didn't really know where I could channel this and use my hard earned degree. I wanted to work with people and take on a new challenge that was rewarding in the sense of career progression, personal development, giving something back to people I work with and of course earning a wage I deserve. Recruitment had it all and one call from the GRB confirmed this. After packing up my job in Estate Agency and having a good break in Australia I was looking forward to beginning a career in recruitment with prospects and a real future. I started GRB in the June and quickly hit the record of most placements in a month, achieved star of the month in my second month and billed my first deal on my own after 10 weeks. I'd had an incredible start and before I knew it I had been promoted to Consultant. From here I chose Engineering as my specialism and have been billing successfully ever since, building up a new client base and placing some superb candidates into jobs they really want. The team has now extended to become a department in their own right and we are working on science roles now too. All in all a fantastic 18 months and it looks set to continue with a positive, hardworking team around me.I can honestly say I love my job! Working with a variety of graduates and people in the STEM industry I constantly find myself learning something new. We have a great social side of the business and working in a supportive and friendly team makes all the difference. It is a fantastic feeling placing graduates into work knowing you have helped set them on to an exciting and rewarding future and it is always nice when the thank you emails and recommendations come rolling in. As a person I have truly developed in this role, becoming more confident with far better business acumen and this is down to all the support, training and development given to me by the GRB.
Hi I'm Charlotte I'm a Consultant within the FMCG and Retail team, with my main areas of expertise being Finance, Operations and Logistics. I tend to look for graduates with a real passion for the sector, top academics in a variety of subjects, exceptional communication skills, and strong examples of leadership from any extra-curricular. I come from a slightly different academic background, having completed a degree in Film Studies in Falmouth in 2009. While I see myself as a creative person, I couldn't imagine earning as little as my course mates were by doing media internships, so wanted to find something I could really make some money in! After moving to Brighton I worked as a Senior Interviewer for a market research company, and while there got involved in recruiting new staff into the call centre - which gave me my first taste of recruitment. I originally started work at GRB in the Experienced Hire team, focusing on Analytical roles. After about 10 months of learning the ropes there I moved over to the graduate side. The differences between the 2 teams were massive, but I'm really happy I got to try my hand at both sides. While I've been at GRB I've worked on roles in a wide variety of sectors, not only in Finance, Operations and Logistics, but also Marketing, IT, Sales, Buying, Management and many more, which has really kept things interesting. My biggest achievement has been building a relationship with one of the biggest companies in the UK, and helping them to place 8 graduates into various teams across the year - it was the first time they had worked with an agency before, so I was really proud they chose to work with us based on what I had done.My favourite part of the job is definitely working so closely with the graduates, getting to know them, and feeling like you're really making a difference to them by helping land their dream job. The thank you that you get from someone when you tell them they've got the job is always amazing!
I work in the Analytics team and specialise in placing bright, highly numerate graduates into digital marketing positions. It's a really dynamic sector to work in that is exciting, constantly evolving and shows no signs of slowing down. Hailing originally from Australia, I completed a Communication Degree specialising in Public Relations and Journalism. I gained 3 years' experience in varied communicative roles including the marketing and retail sectors in Australia and teaching English to business professionals in Prague. After relocating once again to the UK I decided to pursue a career in Recruitment as I felt it would be a great match to my outgoing and organised nature, along with my strong work ethic. I began as a resourcer, where I 'learnt the recruitment ropes' and honed my ability to source high calibre candidates for a range of analytical roles. Having recently made the step up to consultant, I'm now developing my relationship building and negotiating skills client side, seeking to form partnerships with digital and media agencies. Whilst in the early stages, I have successfully partnered with 2 digital agencies and am extremely motivated to grow this list longer. Working at GRB has been a challenging and fulfilling experience. It's an extremely supportive environment where your growth is very much nurtured individually. There are certainly ups and downs, I have definitely learnt to become more resilient, but most importantly I feel a great sense of accomplishment when I succeed and it drives me to continue to do so.
Hi I'm Chris and I'm the Director of GRB's London office focusing on placing experienced IT professionals. I studied Economics at the University of Sussex and after graduating joined a Graduate Management Training Scheme for a large multinational company. My previous role saw me get heavily involved in internal recruitment doing activities such as attending assessment centres and career's fairs, conducting interviews and being part of the onboarding process. It was an area I enjoyed and was keen to spend more time focusing on recruitment. At the same time a lot of my classmates from university had taken the step into external recruitment and were getting promotions and getting paid a lot more than me. I was attracted into the industry due to the fast paced nature of the work, and the potential to earn a lot of money.I joined GRB as a resourcer focusing on IT roles and quickly became a consultant where I started to grow my own client base. I had the option to work across engineering and IT and was fortunate (and worked very hard) to place a lot of graduates within my first year as a consultant. I grew to my client base to a level where I had to hire additional resourcers to support me and became a Managing Consultant, looking after three consultants. Last year I was promoted to Associate Director and was given the chance to open GRB's London office for graduates who have gone on to get 18 months experience. We promote from within and there is potential to be very well rewarded financially for the effort you put in. We are looking to rapidly expand our London team over the next 18 months and will be hiring graduates who are hungry to work in recruitment and want to be successful. We operate in a brand new purpose built office in the heart of the City. Our team all have graduated recently, are friendly and as well as working hard like to enjoy themselves socially.
Hi I'm Amelia and I'm currently a Resourcer for the GRB. I graduated last year in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Warwick, spending my summer working at festivals before starting my own graduate job search in the autumn. I work on the Engineering and Science Team, finding candidates for the GRB Engineering Consultants Rebecca and Grace. The candidates I work with are from technical backgrounds, usually Engineering, but often Physics, Chemistry and Business. I worked in sales for a couple of months, and found I loved the target driven aspect. This drew me to Recruitment as I'd heard it involves interacting with and building relationships with a variety of people, whilst also having the best bits about sales; commission, targets, a fast paced environment - plus the pay isn't too bad either! I've learnt so much in the last 2 months and there's so much more I'm looking forward to doing. I've worked on loads of different jobs, from mechanical design in the oil and gas industry, to German speaking technical sales roles. You get to learn a lot about different industries and how they work, as well as the kind of skills that graduates need and the kind of person that fits well in a certain type of role. Plus I now know what makes a good CV (and what makes a shocking one!). From here, I'm really excited to begin my journey towards becoming a Consultant, finding companies that require our services in sourcing high calibre graduates, and having responsibility for managing my own clients. The GRB team is amazing - everyone here is keen to support you and there's a lot of emphasis on career development. There's a perception that working in Recruitment is cut throat and viciously competitive; I can't speak for other agencies but I know the GRB definitely isn't like that! Everyone gets on and there's a great social life outside of work too.
