Overview...
Our software engineering area is about designing, building and integrating new systems to meet the needs of the future.
Entry requirements...
You must have a 2:1 (or higher) honours degree in a relevant discipline, such as computer science, software engineering or any other engineering degree. Whatever the degree, it should ideally be accredited by the British Computer Society (BCS). We also consider candidates who might not have a degree in the relevant discipline (perhaps, another relevant technical degree), but have a great interest and passion for software development. In these cases, you should demonstrate some experience with computer systems or software development.
It's also helpful to have an understanding of the following (these can be achieved on or off your degree course):
• Software design patterns
•Designing and building large, complex systems
•Test-driven development
•The software development life cycle
•Software development methodologies (e.g. Waterfall/Iterative/Agile)
•Real-time adaptive control systems
As well as the above, we're looking for candidates who can also:
•Work on site when necessary
•Communicate effectively, both verbally and written, with technical and non-technical colleagues and audiences
•Show good analytical, problem solving and inductive reasoning skills
•Identify project goals, take ownership and work towards them
•Show a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion
Applying...
We can only accept one application per candidate, so please think carefully about which scheme is right for you before submitting. It will not be possible to transfer your application to a different scheme.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, but we recommend applying early.
