An exciting vacancy has arisen to join the Innovation and E-Mobility Team of the SMMT, one of the largest and most influential trade associations in the UK. SMMT supports the interests of the UK automotive industry at home and abroad, promoting a united position to government, stakeholders and the media.
In the new role of Technology and Innovation Officer you will help deliver SMMT's ambitious agenda of developing the market for low and ultra low carbon vehicles in the UK and promoting innovation and investment in RandD across the UK automotive supply chain. You will help organise the meetings of the SMMT Electric Vehicle Group, provide administrative support and help drive its work on the commercial, technical and political aspects of e-mobility liaising with industry, government and stakeholders.
Working across SMMT you will help inform and develop SMMT positions on UK and EU RandD policy and funding mechanisms, support SMMT projects resulting from the work of the Automotive Council Technology Group and ensure SMMT's engagement with universities, research councils and funding bodies. You will monitor, research and write briefings on key developments in the ultra low carbon vehicle market, in key technologies, in policy and in RandD funding with a view to promoting innovation in the automotive sector and creating new business opportunities for SMMT members.
This position is a suitable role for a recent technology, policy or marketing graduate with a passion for making a contribution to the UK automotive industry's transformation in RandD and ultra low carbon technologies and who has some experience working in relevant areas in a political, research, or RandD funding. We are looking for a motivated individual with a passion for promoting innovation and the developing early market for ultra low carbon vehicle. You will be a good communicator, both written and verbal with the diplomatic skills to work at all levels and the passion to join our team.
