My client is a leading company in the field of scientific recruitment. Established in 2000, they have a fantastic reputation for delivering excellent results to their clients. They work on Marketing, Sales, Service Support and Laboratory based positions within the Medical, Engineering and Scientific fields. Examples of the type of roles they are filling are "Geologists, Geophysicist, Petroleum Engineers, Clinical Researchers, Service Engineers, Technologist, Account Management and Nurse Advisors to Primary Care Trusts and GP's."
They work with well known multi-national names, from Siemens to Johnson and Johnson and many small businesses within the NHS. Although being UK based, they do have a presence in the European and US markets.
They attend conferences and exhibitions centred round their market giving them first hand exposure to movement within the industry.
My client is looking to expand their team with a specific focus on the Medical field. With the average salaries of these positions ranging from £30k to £200k, you have the opportunity to work on very senior level roles thus increasing both your market knowledge and commission.
You will be responsible for:
- Maintaining current relationships with clients and servicing their requirements as and when needed.
- Developing your own client base after extensive training and research, so you will be responsible for managing key accounts.
- Approaching the "right" candidate to ascertain their career direction and pitch a role you feel is suitable.
- Advertising positions on jobs boards and using networking sites such as LinkedIn.
- Keeping an eye on developments within your market and how this could impact on your clients and candidates.
My client is not an aggressive company. Like any recruitment consultancy, targets are put in place to motivate and stimulate your working day but unlike many consultancies, they are looking for candidates to work on their own initiative and thus do not micromanage. They operate quarterly incentive schemes and team building exercises and with a headcount of just 12, they are looking for a team player.
Basic salary is a minimum of £16k but if you have a considerable amount of sales experience, this could be as high as £25k. On a basic of £16k, you will expect your first year earnings to be approximately £30k. The commission structure is one of the best - after reaching an achievable threshold, you will earn 25% on EVERY placement. Working hours are generally 8:45am - 6pm.
Requirements:
- You must have sales experience (excluding retail sales) - this could be within telesales, telemarketing, account management, recruitment, estate agency, door-to-door canvassing etc.
- Resilience is vital as more people will say "no."
- Fearless in your approach - you will be expected to progress quickly thus conducting Business Development fairly soon.
- You MUST be motivated by money - consultants who have been there for 2-3 years are all earning in excess of £80k a year.
- Creative and entrepreneurial - recruitment companies are always looking for new, innovative ways at sourcing the perfect candidates. It sometimes takes a fresh mind to achieve this.
- A positive mental attitude - at times, recruitment can be frustrating. Candidates may drop out or clients may let you down. You will NEED to be a "pick yourself up, dust yourself down" type of person to be successful.
