My client is a boutique executive headhunting company specialising in the areas of investment banking, asset management and alternative investments.
The company currently has a headcount of 10 which is 6 in Brighton and 4 in London. They have just recently appointed a new Chairman, who is an ex-CEO of Lloyds and are really excited about the contacts he can bring, market knowledge and operational expertise.
They work typically on vacancies paying £80-120k for the successful candidates but also have the ability to work on significantly higher-level positions where they will work on ?retained? assignments on an exclusive basis.
Researchers will be reporting directly to the Prinicpal Consultants and will be supporting them in all aspects of candidate delivery. They are both extremely successful in what they do which means clients give them a lot of work! To find the best candidates you will be utilising a number of marketing channels which includes business networking websites (Linked In is the most popular one), gaining referrals from existing relationships and cold-calling new contacts to obtain person and market information. You will need to be commercially flexible when speaking to these individuals as you never know how useful they can be!
Once you are competent in the research aspect of the role you will be expected to take on more responsibility with regards to client-work and be looking to progress to a Consultant position, where you will be eligible for the commission scheme.
The core hours are 8.30am-6.00pm however their team will often work a little later if there is an urgent call to make or project to complete. There are no set KPI's that you have to hit (some companies expect a certain number of CV's and interviews per day and can make this a very pressured environment) and the quality of work is most important.
Requirements
- Intelligent but down-to-earth
- Quick learner
- Lively
- Not afraid of picking up the phone to a range of individuals
- Resilient
- Persuasive
- Articulate
They are open on the academic profile to an extent although particularly welcome those with a degree or interest in finance and economics. Certainly they would expect you to check the business press prior to the interview.
Western European languages are also useful.
