Our client is a leading global physical commodities trader. Continued rapid growth plans mean these are exciting times for the company.
An opportunity has arisen to join the organisation as a Trainee Trader. Successful applicants will join a two year training programme designed to expose you to all areas of the international trading arm of the business, and from day one will offer you the opportunity to work on live projects and tasks that will help develop the skills required for you to become a successful trader.
This scheme was launched over 25 years ago and has consistently produced star traders and potential directors of the business since its conception.
Initially trainees will be apprenticed with experienced traders, helping with the execution of their trade, which is an essential part of understanding the process of steel trading, but ultimately they will start trading independently.
The role will include:
- Identifying potential sources, customers, markets and products to develop.
- Enhancing existing and new relationships.
- Purchasing from suppliers and selling to customers at the best possible prices and commercial conditions to minimise risk and maximise market presence and returns for the client.
- Managing the execution of the transactions until delivery and payment have been completed.
If successfully offered a place on the scheme you will have access to introductory workshops on all aspects of the trading process and the business alongside formal training on the bespoke trading platform. This coupled with a series of short external training programmes gives you the best possible start to life as a trainee trader.
In order to apply all candidates:
- Must have achieved a 2.1 in their degree (or be on course to do so in summer 2011)
- Be able to demonstrate an entrepreneurial capability.
- Have strong interpersonal skills.
- Have a demonstrable interest in international trade.
- Give demonstrable examples of maximising an opportunity to the benefit of the body you were representing.
- Give demonstrable examples of relationship building.
In addition, language skills and an interest in commodities trading would be advantageous.
