Our client is a long established provider of specialist financial services who offer pension, protection, investment and mortgage related products to those planning for their financial future.
Our client is a mutual society, meaning that they have no shareholders, but are owned by a group of planholders. The planholders have invested more than £1.4 billion with their award-winning investment team.
An opportunity has arisen to join the organisation in a trainee capacity. You will be expected to assist qualified actuaries in all actuarial management and to progress through actuarial examinations. This exciting opportunity will expose you to all aspects of the organisation and you will gain exposure to all the activities that the actuary department undertakes.
As part of your ongoing requirements you will:
- Learn the principles of actuarial work both through formal tuition and on-the-job training and then apply this knowledge in examinations and in practice.
- Assist or complete special projects and regular reporting tasks including the end of year valuation, corporate projection and asset shares.
- Run and modify Prophet and stochastic model workspaces and present results back to actuaries.
- Ensure all tasks are completed to an appropriate standard.
- Develop a network of contacts (both internal and external) that will assist with the work of the department.
In order to apply it is essential that all candidates:
- Have studied Maths to A level standard (or equivalent) and then gone onto complete a degree in Maths or Stats.
- Have had prior experience of working experience in a business environment (preferably financial services or similar).
- Must be prepared to study for actuarial exams (full study support given).
- Have strong Excel skills.
- Have excellent communication skills both written and oral.
