My client is a well-established, successful engineering and manufacturing company who provides world leading food brands with the manufacturing equipment to make their products. Operating from a UK and USA site this company is a world leader with over 100 years experience. My client's success has developed from their engineering excellence, process expertise and their quality after sales support that extends to their worldwide customer base.
As a regular recruiter of Graduates this growing company is looking now to take on a new team member in the fast paced technical-sales support department.
Reporting to the Business Director this is a varied and responsible position which involves working across a few departments, mainly sales in securing and preparing new orders for the entire business. You will potentially travel worldwide to carry out this role and the future prospects are progressive!
Below are guidelines of what you would be involved in day to day:
-Generating commercially viable proposals which are timely and accurate, involving cost estimates, factory and machinery layouts etc.
-Preparing accurate cost estimates to complement the proposals above, taking into account the need to minimise cost.
-In conjunction with the sales team, presenting the above in the form of compelling proposals to be sent or presented to customers.
-Providing routine office-based customer contact associated with the promotion and sale of equipment.
-Administering relevant documentation in the pre-contract phase, ensuring compliance with internal procedures.
-Organising and acting as the technical sales representative in launch meetings whereby secured orders are reviewed and transferred to the Operations group.
-Assisting the sales people with activities such as Innovation Centre trials, exhibitions, mail-shots, customer site visits and customer correspondence.
This opportunity will suit a confident and driven Engineer who wants to take on a commercial role whilst maintaining a technical knowledge base within a manufacturing company.
Requirements:
-You must hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering or very closely related (minimum grade 2:2).
-You will be a competent user of AutoCAD.
-Ideally you will have familiarity with project managing, leading a team, sourcing and costing of materials etc.
-Ability to give presentations in a positive manner.
-Good examples of experience in a commercial setting through extra-curricular activities or work placements.
-Ability to undertake travel to the customer base worldwide where necessary.
