My client is a multidisciplinary consultancy providing high quality services across construction, infrastructure and the environment in several offices across the UK. An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a fresh graduate to join the specialist flood risk team of this award winning UK consultancy. You will be based in the buzzing head office of this company in Bristol, and have access to a wide benefits package and competitive starting salary.
They are looking for the right person to join the team; a motivated graduate with the technical ability to succeed and the capacity to learn and develop quickly. A desire to work in flood risk consultancy, demonstrated through relevant modulesuniversity projects and ideally some placement experience is essential.
Based within the flood risk division of the wider infrastructure team, you will be given full, in depth training and support towards chartered status. Responsibilities include:
? Using the latest software to conduct in depth analysis
? Technical drawingscalculations
? Hydraulic and hydrological modelling, flood risk
? Regular client contact including attending meetings
? Liaison and negotiation with the Environment Agency and local councils
? Site work, including surveying
? Compiling and writing flood risk assessments
Projects cover a range of sectors; broadly in the residential development sector but also including commercial, industrial, energy and public. The team is fast expanding and there will be future opportunity to progress to senior and principle consultant level. The role commences in summer 2014, although earlier start dates may be available.
Degree in Civil Engineering or Geography (relevant modules include flood risk, modelling, hydrology)
Excellent verbal communication skills as you will be liaising with a number of different people
High degree of accuracy and precision in your technical writing
Passion for commencing a career in flood risk
Any experience in flood risk, particularly within a consultancy will be an advantage
Prior experience in hydrologicalhydraulic modelling using Hec-ras, Isis or Tu-flow software will be an advantage
Driving License is desirable
GISAutoCAD knowledge is good but not essential
