What does your company do?
Our client is a leading professional services firm consulting in the private equity and investment management sector. They help firms optimise systems and operations, across front, middle and back office. They also provide specialist advice and expertise around such focus areas as CRM, portfolio monitoring & fund administration.
How can your intern expect to spend their day?
- Initially you will gain experience researching the industry, their clients and the technology vendors who work in this space.
- You will then gain experience communicating and discusses these findings with the team.
- There will be an opportunity to shadow their senior consultants at client sites to learn about the project life-cycle and successful project management.
- When on a client site you will be working closely with business analysts to understand priorities and relevant business processes, plus develop presentational and documentation skills to support and help drive the client's change management project
- You will also have the opportunity to set up your own internal project, for which you'll receive lots of support along the way, giving you the chance to practice your skills and put your knowledge to the test.
- You may be invited to attend networking events or take part in client entertaining (their last intern went to Polo in the Park!).
- You will gain an insight into the project management processes, learn how to deal with clients in a consulting capacity, as well as about the private equity industry and associated software packages.
- You will also gain a unique opportunity to see how a small (and relatively new) consulting business
operates, alongside the more well-established private equity firms and software vendors that they work with.
Tell us about your ideal intern's personality and qualifications:
- Ideally you'll have a business related degree andor have a strong interest in working in consulting
- You may have previous project management experience; perhaps you organised an event at university or a trip abroad with some friends.
- You will have a good attention to detail and be comfortable working with data and software packages, but you will also be highly articulate and presentable, with a flair for making people feel comfortable and at ease.
- You're able to demonstrate a genuine interest in building a career in the consulting industry.
- Demonstrate In-depth knowledge of Excel including advanced functions, macros and pivot tables.
- Have previous Intern or work experience with a financial organisation.

They are now a graduate business analyst with a structured career development plan to get up to junior consultant level in the next 12 months.
