My client is looking for a graduate with an interest in building a career in Buying. You will work with suppliers on a day to day basis ensuring products are supplied at the right time and of the right quality to meet production needs.

The role involves the following:

- Communicating with all suppliers via telephone, fax and email
- Ensuring all products are supplied on time and meet the production schedule
- Managing delivery issues with suppliers
- Reviewing prices and alternative products with suppliers
- Dealing with finance queries

Specific tasks include:

- Running and managing the supply chain system
- Being proactive to supply needs and able to source and contact vendors
- Assisting in the negotiating of supplies
- Placing orders and preparing requisitions
- Acknowledging the receipt of vendor items
- Working within budgetary constraints
- Communicating materials procurement problems to appropriate personnel
- Preparing a variety of weekly, monthly and annual reports and analysing the data
- May travel to vendor locations across the UK and abroad

Essential Skills:

- To hold a minimum of a 2.2 degree
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Able to manage a busy workload, prioritise and organise
- Strong attention to detail
- Some knowledge of supply chain concepts such as JIT, kan ban etc
- Some knowledge of and interest in the manufacturing sector
