My client is in the banking sector and at the cutting edge of UK financial services. They are a relatively new venture within a larger banking group but already have over one million UK banking customers and a great reputation for customer satisfaction.

This challenging, entry level graduate role offers great variety and potential. The role encompasses three main areas:

- Systems analysis and development
- Data analysis
- Business analysis and strategy

The role would suit either a numerate graduate with an interest in developing more systems skills, or a Business Information Systems graduate with an interest in finance and analysis.

The Fraud Strategy and Analysis Team:

The team is responsible for ensuring that the fraud scorecards, strategies and systems are delivering the quality of decisions to help the business achieve its plan. The primary focus is to minimise fraud loss, support the business to meet objectives, whilst maintaining a high level of customer service.

The role:

You will be expected to develop knowledge to enhance the Fraud Team and ultimately become an expert in fraud strategy, systems and rule development. There will be training and support to ensure that any development needs are fulfilled.

You would lead the regular monitoring and review of strategies across a broad range of systems where fraud decisions are made. You will be expected to provide the business with meaningful insights and recommendations for change, which will be primarily achieved through analysis of data. These recommendations would be appropriately presented to the business with cost benefit justifications.

Responsibilities:

Analysis

- Lead investigations into fraud trends and develop innovative strategies to minimise loss
- Report analysis findings and make recommendations to the business regarding fraud strategy
- Undertake ad-hoc analysis into business issues
- Review and interpret fraud management information

Systems

- Maintain a fraud management information database using data sources available
- Technical support for multiple fraud detection systems

Strategy

- Assist in major card projects that impact fraud strategy
- Liaise with other departments to share best practice

Essential Skills:

- Exceptionally numerate and able to interpret information
- Highly proficient in the use of MS Access and Excel
- Have a logical, common sense approach with accuracy and attention to detail
- Have a high degree of initiative, commitment and enthusiasm
- Innovative, with a good approach to problem solving
- Self-starter and a good team player

Desirable Skills:

- Have experience of, or an aptitude for programming, ideally SAS, SQL or VBA
- Have an excellent standard of verbal and written communication
- Working knowledge of databases
