This role sits within Governance and Standards which is a newly created department, and will assist in ensuring that the business is fully conversant and compliant with the relevant rules and regulations from the FSA, HMT, ABI and any other regulatory body relevant to the organisation, in addition to the organisation's own best practise rules.
Once familiar with the role, the applicant will be expected to undertake such tasks as Governance and Standards training to small groups within the business on rules and guidance as fed in from the FSA and other regulatory bodies; deciphering of publications, guidance and rules from a variety of sources including the FSA, ABI and HMT, for wider circulation to the business and assisting with the risk-based monitoring of internal departments in line with TOB and FSA requirements.
Primary Responsibilities:
Assisting the Governance and Standards Manager with the:
- Gathering and interpretation of key information and statistics from around the business to enable effective reporting to the board, completing trend analysis and putting together any remedial actions required
- Provision of guidance on Compliance, Training and Competence and business standards matters to advisersconsultants and directors
- Coaching of members of staff from within the business to meet the company's regulatory requirements
- The roll out of new Governance procedures to the business
- Analysis and synopsis of regulatory changes from a large variety of sources including the FSA, HMRC, etc
- Improvement of knowledge and understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements throughout the business
- Proactive responses to regulatory related queries
- Review and assessment of the implications of regulatory changes to the business tailoring this to the requirements of individual departments if possible
- Supporting the development of flexible but compliant systems to support the business
Requirements:
- Organised with good time management skills
- Excellent planning and project management skills
- The ability to investigate, analyse and solve problems
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to present Management Information at all levels of the company
- Ability to deliver to aggressive timescales
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, being able to consult with people across the business

Related work experience through an internship or placement year would be advantageous.
